Inside the Minimalist Skincare Challenge
Skincare looks different at every stage of life, but the goal remains the same: healthy, resilient skin that feels as good as it looks.
For Aileen and her daughter Jennifer, skincare has become a shared experience shaped by different skin needs, life stages, and ultimately, a desire to simplify what works.
This Mother’s Day, they’re taking on the Vidaderma Minimalist Skincare Challenge, sharing a routine that works across generations. We sat down with them to talk about their relationship, their skin journeys, and what they’re discovering through a more intentional approach to skincare.
Q: Can you share a little about your relationship and what makes it special?
Jennifer: “I’m an only child, and it took my mom eight years to have me, so we’ve always been really close.”
Aileen: “We’ve shared a lot over the years, but skincare has become something new we connect on. I’ve tried so many products. At one point, it felt like I had the ‘Empire State Building’ of skincare. Vidaderma is the first brand where I’ve truly seen a difference.”
Q: Is skincare something you’ve ever shared or talked about before this?
Jennifer: “I’ve tried a lot of my mom’s products over the years, but this is the first one I’ve liked enough to stick with and buy myself.”
Q: How would you each describe your skin right now?
Jennifer: “I’m 44, so my focus is maintaining collagen and keeping a glow. With The Age Eraser, I noticed dead skin sheds when it needs to without irritation. It’s not like other products that leave your face red.”
Aileen: “I’m 74, and my skin is fairly regular, but at this stage, the biggest concern is volume. Skincare can only do so much there, but these products are helping the overall quality of my skin.”

Aileen, 74: Before and After Vidaderma Radiance Reset Challenge
Q: What made you decide to take on the Minimalist Skincare Challenge together? And what are you most looking forward to during it?
Aileen: “This is my second time doing a Vidaderma Skincare Challenge, and I really believed in it after my first experience. I was excited to participate in another.
In terms of what we’re most looking forward to? Continuing the routine and seeing how our skin improves. It’s about consistency and having something that actually works. I’m excited for Jennifer to experience this the way I already have.”
Jennifer: “This is my first time doing a challenge, but I thought it would be really special to do together. It’s not something you get to do often. I’m excited to see skin improvements too.”
Q: What products are you currently using and loving?
Aileen: “I’m currently using The Wash, and it gives such a natural glow. Then, I have been using The Phytoestro Age Eraser. What I’ve started doing is rotating that with The Age Eraser and layering it with The Plumper. I also have The Eye Neck Complex that I thoroughly enjoy using. Everything feels like it’s doing its job. My skin looks healthier.”
Jennifer: “I’m currently using The Wash and The Age Eraser as well as The Tint Sunscreen. The Tint Sunscreen is one of my favorites. It goes on so smoothly and feels just like makeup.”
Q: Aileen, you’ve seen Dr. Colombo before as a patient. How was your experience?
Aileen: I saw Dr. Colombo about four years ago for dermabrasion and fillers. It changed how I think about skincare completely. There is only so much you can do at home, but when you combine it with the right products, it makes a difference. I definitely want to go back to see Dr. Colombo again.”
